Mary Emily O’Hara is the LGBT Reporter at the Daily Dot and a journalist specializing in human rights news, women’s and LGBTQ issues, and analysis. A native New Yorker, O’Hara has written for The Daily Beast, VICE, Al Jazeera, Mic, The Advocate, The Huffington Post, Pando, Venus, Clamor, Tom Tom Magazine, $pread, and more.
O’Hara spent eight years living in Portland, Oregon. During that time, she was a regular contributor to Portland’s Pulitzer Prize-winning alt weekly Willamette Week, while simultaneously attending Reed College as a first-generation adult student thanks to a generous full scholarship. After moving back to NYC, she was a staff writer at VICE until February 2015.
